The MadClout Teamsters are proud to be invited to The Art Beats & Lyrics Tour which will travel to 5 cities; Atlanta, Charlotte, St. Louis, Baltimore & Jackson Miss. Be on the look out if you happen to be in these areas. Yessssssssss
In additon to that The Madclout Teamsters just got back from The Foundations of Style Writing in Baltimore, Fells Point to be exact. Here's a bit of what went down. Stay up Stay Fresh & Stay Frosty
Foundations of Style Writing: Graffiti is Art By Mary Barrett You stop at light, and as you glance around you notice that some graffiti writing on the corner building looks much different compared to the one a few blocks back. If you’re curious about this art form, which is plastered all over our city, you’ll want to check out Foundations of Style Writing at DB5K Gallery in Fells Point.
Style writing began in the late 1960s in New York. It is a studied and artistic form of handwriting generally done on a variety of large outside surfaces. Since it‘s early days, “a whole language as been created” said Kim Sutter, DB5K Gallery’s art director. The gallery’s exhibit will reveal the history of this street movement and will feature influential artists including Martha Cooper, a photojournalist who has documented the aerosol art culture for decades.
The show sets “out to change minds and cut through the myth,” Sutter said. Guest curator and prominent artist, Adam Stab, points out that style writing is “the most difficult to define of all the street arts. This exhibit should give history to those who misconstrue the genre.” To create their murals, artists must work in difficult and often dangerous situations.
This movement began to become more accepted by the mainstream during the 1980s and can be seen in fashion, language, and even candy wrappers. For artists, Stab points out that “nothing represents us more directly. It is confrontational; you must define possession and free, right and wrong, releasing and shame.” The very nature of the art form is transient. Images are painted quickly; frequently on “canvases” which may move or be removed such as trains or boarded buildings. This makes Baltimore a prime microcosm for how the style writing process works.
In addition to the gallery’s artwork, visitors can take a map, and visit four full-size murals painted around the city specifically for the exhibit. The Info: Foundations of Style Writing DB5K Gallery 1800 Fleet St., Fells Point Now through June 28 Regular gallery hours are: Tuesday-Saturday 1-7 pm

ATL WARRIORS WHERE YALL AT?
The 2nd annual "Warriors" Halloween Party, based on the 1979 cult movie classic directed by Walter Hill and in celebration of Halloween is going down again "CAN YOU DIGG IT?"...
Now, is this press release a formal gang alert for violence…Of course not, just a creative concept for a Halloween Party. Our goal for this event is to fuse the hipster, indie and punk crowds of Atlanta, with one common denominator, "The Warriors". Where like many of the gangs of the movie, race wasn't a factor + making your own identity amongst your friends. At this event, expect to see people coming as the charac ter gangs from "The Warriors" movie as well as people who make up their own gangs ....COME OUT AND PLAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

Origins and Originators- All Kings Baby!!!!! AKB is a crew of the truest kind- down for art, down for streets, and as their latest gallery venture shows, down for each other. They aren't one of those crews with everyone doing small variations of the same style. Each of the crew members has their own style and method- individual and original. It is all the more impressive then that when they come together, on walls or gallery halls, the outfit hangs like a finely-tailored suit. One style is complimented by the others, without a loss of the fierce individuality that makes the All Kings crew one of the strongest in the nation (see their entries for the write 4 gold competition at write4gold.com). While the seven members presenting all have deep roots in various national graffiti scenes, the show is far from simply being indoor graffiti. Sure, some stylistic sensibilities will carry over, but the work presented is mature, relevant, and truely, finely crafted. So while so many are stuck spinning their wheels in an ocean of sameness, AKB and the origins show is kicking something that means something, and showing us all that there are no limits on progression, style, and insight. Being sure to check out the show at Foundation One studios running through Sept.9, 12-7, monday through saturday. 627B E. college ave. Decatur, 30030. Also be sure to check out the crew site at www.allkings.org. Be sure to keep supporting the team! peace and hair grease- achesoner

Europeans Outraged at Schwarzenegger
By VANESSA GERA, AP
VIENNA, Austria (Dec. 13) - California's execution of Stanley Tookie Williams on Tuesday outraged many in Europe who regard the practice as barbaric, and politicians in Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's native Austria called for his name to be removed from a sports stadium in his hometown.
At the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI's top official for justice matters denounced the death penalty for going against redemption and human dignity.
"We know the death penalty doesn't resolve anything," Cardinal Renato Martino told AP Television News. "Even a criminal is worthy of respect because he is a human being. The death penalty is a negation of human dignity."
Capital punishment is illegal throughout the European Union, and many Europeans consider state-sponsored executions to be barbaric. Those feelings were amplified in the case of Williams, due to the apparent remorse they believe the Crips gang co-founder showed by writing children's books about the dangers of gangs and violence.
Leaders of Austria's pacifist Green Party went as far as to call for Schwarzenegger to be stripped of his Austrian citizenship - a demand that was quickly rejected by Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel despite his government's opposition to the death penalty.
"Whoever, out of political calculation, allows the death of a person rehabilitated in such an exemplary manner has rejected the basic values of Austrian society," said Peter Pilz, a Greens leader.
In Schwarzenegger's hometown of Graz, local Greens said they would file a petition to remove his name from the southern city's sports stadium. A Christian political group went even further, suggesting it be renamed the "Stanley Tookie Williams Stadium."
"Mr. Williams had converted, and unlike Mr. Schwarzenegger, opposed every form of violence," said Richard Schadauer, the chairman of the Association of Christianity and Social Democracy.
Williams was executed early Tuesday at California's San Quentin State Prison after Schwarzenegger denied Williams' request for clemency. Schwarzenegger suggested that Williams' supposed change of heart was not genuine because he had not shown any real remorse for the killings committed by the Crips.
Criticism came quickly from many quarters, including the Socialist Party in France, where the death penalty was abolished in 1981.
"I am proud to be a Frenchman," party spokesman Julien Dray told RTL radio. "I am proud to live in France, in a country where we don't execute somebody 21 years later."
"Schwarzenegger has a lot of muscles, but apparently not much heart," Dray said.
In Italy, the country's chapter of Amnesty International called the execution "a cold-blooded murder."
"His execution is a slap in the face to the principle of rehabilitation of inmates, an inhumane and inclement act toward a person who, with his exemplary behavior and his activity in favor of street kids, had become an important figure and a symbol of hope for many youths," the group said.
In Germany, Volker Beck, a leading member of the opposition Greens party, expressed disappointment. "Schwarzenegger's decision is a cowardly decision," Beck told the Netzeitung online newspaper.
From London, Clive Stafford-Smith, a human rights attorney specializing in death penalty cases, called the execution "very sad."
"He was twice as old as when they sentenced him to die, and he certainly wasn't the same person that he was when he was sentenced," Stafford-Smith said.
Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni said the city would keep Williams in its memory the next time it celebrates a victory against the death penalty somewhere in the world.
Rome's Colosseum, once the arena for deadly gladiator combat and executions, has become a symbol of Italy's anti-death penalty stance. Since 1999, the monument has been bathed in golden light every time a death sentence is commuted somewhere in the world or a country abolishes capital punishment.
"I hope there will be such an occasion soon," Veltroni said in a statement. "When it happens, we will do it with a special thought for Tookie."

NOTE: The individuals you see during your Thursday Sessions are real people, and yes, they are that f...king cool. They are not actors. The DJs are truly that good; the b-boys are not digitally enhanced and have no stunt doubles. If you feel the vibe is to real to be true, then f..k what ya heard! If you haven't had the full Django experience, The restaurant upstairs serves a French Mediteranean menu. It also has Hookah bar (if you don't know, ask somebody). ATL WARRIORS COME OUT AND PLAY THIS HALLOWEEN WEEKEND>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WHAT: "The Warriors", Halloween Party WHEN: Friday, October 28, 2005 TIME: 9:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. WHERE: 10 Krog St. Unit F, Atlanta (Warehouse across from the Krog St. graffiti tunnel) TICKETS: $5 – gang member attire $10 – non-gang member attire Based on the 1979 cult movie classic directed by Walter Hill and in celebration of Halloween, birthed "The Warriors" Halloween Party…
At this event, expect to see people coming as the character gangs from "The Warriors" movie as well as people who make up their own gangs ....COME OUT AND PLAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

FEMA to issue debit cards Staff reports
BATON ROUGE — For the first time in the history of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the government has decided to dole out debit cards worth $2,000 each to help displaced hurricane evacuees get back on their feet.
“The concept is that this is cash in hand that allows them, empowers them, about what they need to do to start rebuilding their lives,” said FEMA Director Michael Brown, announcing the program Wednesday at a press briefing at the state Office of Emergency Preparedness.
The cards were expected to be distributed first to evacuees that are currently staying in shelters. It was not clear if they would be issued more widely than that.
The $2,000 debit cards will allow people who are running low on cash after fleeing their homes and jobs to buy emergency supplies or make minor repairs to their property, Brown said.
FEMA representatives at the state Office of Emergency Preparedness in Baton Rouge did not have much more information about exactly who would be receiving the cards.

Big up to all the heads who came out to Django and helped make the ATL.A.S. project a success. With a BBoy and BGirl cypher that at times had nearly as many cameras in it as b-boys, the kids made sure to give the lenses something to focus on. In days where too often the less marketable elements of hip-hop are forgotten by the general public, it's good to know that there's still some for whom rockin' is as important as breathing.
With the breeziest of b-boys providing the backdrop, folks also got the chance to see what happens when streetlife goes inside with canvases by Michi, Intelone, Dubelyoo, Teach, Hebru to name a few. Also featured was the iconic photography of Zach Wolfe, who found his subject matter in vivid portraits of some of ATL's true school playas. Top billin' all the way, complete with flowing spirits and bobbing heads. Be sure to keep your peepers on Madclout to find out upcoming events with more of Atlanta's laundry-line freshness. peace. --->andy aches

Bottom Fermentation @ youngblood gallery- on glenwood at boulevard
Youngblood continues on in their mission to showcase emerging artists and untraditional installations with their newest show "bottom fermentation. This is the first group show to exhibit new works from richmond-bred artists joseph rosser, j. wasyk, mickael elliot, and jason herbers. Works range from graf- influenced paint-bubble sculpture, to jail-door screenprints, to a fort built out of chicken-wire, scrapwood, and materials gathered from the side of the road. A week after the show I found a full case of beer in the fort. The group also painted the outside of the gallery with the name of the show. The opening had solid turnout, despite the nasty weather, with youngblood showing off its newly remodeled self, plenty of new gear for sale, and a newly stocked shelf of pants-fancy Montana spraypaint, caps, and markers. Cheap booze, free cheese, and good mixed-media made the night a success for all involved. While here in the dirty dirty, the boys hooked up with some locals to hit some walls and the krog tunnel, with the locals receiving citations from atlanta's own. The show runs through the end of the month, so check it out before next month's 2nd annual skateboard show, featuring a ton of skateboards prettied-up by a ton of local talent. Andrew "Ache"

"From the Platform"
The dictionary defines Longevity as a long duration or continuance, as in an occupation. Me personally, I can define it in one word: Cavs. Great writers with fancy styles and awesome can control come and go with the breeze, but real writers, writers who embody what it means to “put in work” are few and far between. He was a force to be reckoned with on the New York subways during the 1980s. Beginning his career in 1983, Cavs didn’t hang up his cans in 1989 when the subways were permanently cleaned. He took a deep breath, changed direction slightly, and became instrumental in sparking off the, then new, North American freight scene. But wait, it gets better. All that fame and glory and Cavs still had time to amass one of the most comprehensive photo collections of all time. After 22 years the rest of the world will be greatful to know that Cavs' book " From The Platform" will be in stores in 2005. There you will be able to get a glimpse of what Cavs saw in the 20+ years that he was an active subway and freight writer, plus some of his own works. So for all those who overstand the necessity of capturing history, in the immortal words of Cavs himself “Badda Bing” "From The Platform" A collection of subway fotos from the Cavster's Archive. 1983-1988.
